Some edited versions of the figure sketches today.

Another sketch from today, sitting out on the field in the sun.

Week 2

First day with a model.

Started out with 30 second rough sketches of the lines.

Then blind contour.

The next two are supposed to be only form, or mass, basically the opposite of an outline, didn't do the first one right.

Then 30 seconds of form and lines.

The next two are 5 minute whole figure sketches.

And finally, these two are 15 minutes.

Paintings so far

Witness the truly horrid effect digitization has on color pigment.
Well at least you get some idea, these are the only paintings I've done so far, all last quarter.

I'm not really pleased with the spatial and color balance\contrast of these last two.

Perspective Exercise - Boxes

To get a feel for drawing natural looking perspective we were tasked with drawing 3 pages with 12 boxes each. Seemed somewhat silly, but it does help, especially if you get used to making imaginary boxes around things you see, and trying to translate them into what you'd put on paper.

Second studio day

More notes

We drew boxes around the skeleton to get a feel for simulated dimension.
I had another but its on the back of a pinned up piece.

And another semi-blind contour of the entire skeleton.

First Day

The first day in the studio was blind and semi-blind contours of a skeleton.

Semi-blind torso and hand

Semi-blind feet and whole
Blind torso and our palm
Semi-blind skull
Semi-blind whole
